On the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, the Leadership Program is sponsoring a viewing of the film Selma, followed by discussion led by law students and alumni about current issues in election law. All members of the Elon Law community are invited to attend.
Refreshments will be served during the film.
New 1L students are scheduled to attend the screening at the following times: 3:00 p.m. in Room 207 (Cohorts A,B,C) and 4:00 p.m. in Room 206 (D,E,F)
The film depicts the community conditions, legal challenges, and political strategies that led to the enactment of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The film will be followed by a group discussion by Emily Seawell, Elon Law Class of 2015, and Nate Cook, 2L, who are a part of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice.
