The Elon University journalism major discusses his undergraduate and internship experiences, provides advice for college photographers, and highlights his Washington, D.C., internship.
Elon University alumnus Al Drago ’15 is the subject of a lengthy Q&A feature published Aug. 11 in College Media Review, an academic journal on advising collegiate media in print, broadcast and electronic forms.
The online article is titled “For photojournalists, internships are a must,” and highlights the journalism major’s early interest in photography, the importance of internships, and his advice for college photographers. The article concludes with details about Drago’s post-graduation relocation to Washington, D.C., and his photo internship with Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper.
“Internships are a must,” said Drago, according to College Media Review. “They’re the bread and butter for developing photographers that want real-world experience before they leave school.”
Named the 2015 student photographer of the year by the White House News Photographers Association, Drago also provided advice for college photographers interested in entering the “Eyes of History” competition.
