The Omicron Epsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will host their annual breast cancer awareness event: Pink Pearls on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Every October, Elon University organizations paint the campus pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For almost 10 years, the Omicron Epsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has joined in on raising awareness by hosting their signature program: Pink Pearls.
Pink Pearls is an annual event, in which Omicron Epsilon collaborates with a number of on-campus and off-campus organizations to inform those who are not knowledgeable about breast cancer, support those who have been impacted by breast cancer, and celebrate the lives that have been lost due to breast cancer.
Next Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7:08 p.m. in Yeager Recital Hall, Alpha Kappa Alpha is teaming up with the Elon University Praise Team, Alamance County’s Cone Health, Little PInk Houses of Hope, and The Male Breast Cancer Coalition to put on the event. This year in particular the group is hoping to not only raise awareness about breast cancer’s affect on the lives of women, but also help uplift the voice of women who have been impacted by this form of cancer.
This event is open to all members of the Elon community, and all those in attendance are encouraged to wear pink. For more information, please contact Cassidy Stratton at cstratton@elon.edu.
