The Acorn Accolade Technology Award of Excellence recognizes one IT employee each month for exemplary work.
Ryan Gay, service desk team lead in Campus Technology Support, was selected as the recipient of October’s Acorn Accolade. An Instructional and Campus Technology employee each month receives this award as recognition of his/her exemplary service to Elon University. In order to be considered for the award, I&CT employees must be recommended by the directors to the assistant vice president for technology.
Gay He has worked at Elon since January 2013. Gay maintains the Elon Technology wiki and manages the FootPrints software (the ticketing system used throughout all I&CT departments). Additionally, Gay completed the I&CT project management training and is helping plan the implementation of OneDrive and the new Canon copiers.
The Acorn Accolade recognizes Gay for his leadership in service management and his efforts to establish connections with other I&CT departments. Through his work at the service desk, Gay has worked with every I&CT department. Gay’s coworkers know him as a person who can “get things done” and who consistently exhibits excellent work performance.
“This award came as a surprise. I always try to put my best foot forward and accomplish work as quickly and efficiently as possible,” says Gay. “To me, this award … means my contributions to Elon are helping the university move forward on initiatives, as well as improving the student experience.”
The Acorn Accolade will reside in the recipient’s workspace for one month and then move on when the next awardee is named. A small, 3D-printed replica will remain with each recipient in their workspace.
