Associate Professor Scott Wolter from Elon’s engineering program was awarded a grant to develop a test bed for evaluating the potential of coded aperture X-ray scatter imaging for airport security baggage screening applications.
The test bed builds upon his previously funded work on the Computational Adaptive X-ray Imaging (CAXI) program with Duke University. Wolter will participate in the design and fabrication of prototype systems at AQT. His plans also include measuring various materials in different geometric configurations to optimize performance of the system and implementation of a coded aperture to enhance threat detection capability.
