Several Elon students competed at the North Carolina National Association of Musical Theatre Singing Vocal Competition held at UNC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem on November 14, 2015.
The following students were winners and advanced to the regional competition, which will be held at the College of Charleston in March 2016: Tres McMichael won second place in college first-year men; Cassidy Hamilton won first place in college sophomore women (and performed on the Honors Recital), and Grant Paylor won third place in college music theatre sophomore men. All are voice students of faculty member Polly Butler Cornelius.
Kimmy Zerega advanced to regionals in college junior women and is a voice student of faculty member Elizabeth Carter. Tyson Hankins and Billy Summers, university accompanists, played for the students.
