Associate Professor of Music and Education Matthew Buckmaster presented a workshop at the 2015 NCMEA Conference titled “Trombone Role Playing.” With co-presenters Christopher Nigrelli (Lenior-Rhyne University), Wes Parker (North Carolina State University), and Dave Wilken (Asheville Jazz Orchestra), Buckmaster presented pedagogial srategies for teaching middle and high school jazz trombone sections. The collaborative group also performed excerpts from standard jazz band literature. This invited presentation was Buckmaster’s fourth at the conference since coming ot Elon.
