The chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics will assume her new role at the university starting in January 2016.
Associate Professor Ayesha Delpish has been named associate dean of the School of Education and will start in her new position on Jan. 4, 2016.
Delpish started at Elon in 2005 and currently chairs the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
In her new role, Delpish’s primary responsibilities will include serving as assessment coordinator, director of teacher education, and chief licensure officer. She will also serve as a member of the Academic Affairs Advisory Council, Graduate Council, and the Teacher Education Committee.
Delpish’s research and teaching specializes in educational measurement & testing, and multivariate statistics, including Hierarchical Linear Modeling, Reliability Theory, Item-Response Theory and related quantitative methods. She is also very interested in understanding how students learn statistical concepts.
Delpish regularly presents at state and national conferences for statistical and educational associations. The native of Trinidad earned her doctorate in statistics in 2006 from Florida State University.
