The Sunshine Center of the N.C. Open Government Coalition is accepting nominations for its Sunshine Awards program. Winners will be honored at Sunshine Day 2016 in March.
At Sunshine Day 2015 the Sunshine Center of the N.C. Open Government Coalition inaugarted a new awards program to recognize people who work to ensure governments across the state remain open and accessible. T
he awards recognize four different categories: advocacy, government, journalism and citizens. The coalition expects the awards to be given annually and is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Sunshine Awards, which will be announced in March.

Nominations:
In order to nominate someone whose work in the last year fits the above descrpitions, send an email to ncopengov@elon.edu with the subject line “Sunshine Award Nomination.” In your email please include the nominee’s name, position, contact information, which cateogry you are nominating him or her for and a description of no more than 300 words why you think this person is deserving.
Nominations will be accepted until Jan. 5, 2016. Winners will be notified prior to Feb. 15, 2016 and presentations will be made at Sunshine Day 2016 on Monday, March 14, 2016.
