Elon University’s Camerata choral ensemble received praise from an online North Carolina arts journal for its most recent performance of “A Celebration of Light.”
The review by Classical Voices of North Carolina, “Beautiful Evening of Choral Works Presented by Elon’s Camerata,” followed the 11th installment of an annual holiday concert in Whitley Auditorium.
“The event was so beautifully cohesive and seamless that it’s difficult to discuss any single aspect as a highlight,” wrote music critic and composer Nicholas Rich. “Even among North Carolina’s wealth of fine collegiate musicians and the numerous holiday concerts they provide, Elon’s ‘Celebration of Light’ was a beautiful standout performance.”
This year’s narrated script featured writings from poets such as Tennyson, Dickens, Herbert, Eliot, Hughes and others. It was narrated by Chaplain Emeritus Richard McBride, with Mary Alice Bragg on organ, and directed by Stephen A. Futrell.
