Meet Elon's newest employees

Liz Adams, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology
Liz Adams hails from Chicago, Ill. She received her bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University, her master’s degree from Tufts University and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In her spare time, Liz enjoys spending time with her cat and travelling both nationally and internationally.

Kemp Allen, Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions
Kemp Allen is a Greensboro, N.C. native. Before coming to Elon, he worked for Amplify Education Inc. and Trone Brand Energy. Kemp earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in international business studies and marketing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and golf, as well as going to concerts and travelling. Kemp is excited to work at Elon because of the school’s strong sense of community as well as the opportunities to grow professionally and personally.

Deborah Amaral, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies
Deborah Amaral is originally from Graham, N.C. Before coming to Elon, she worked at NCDENR and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Reed College, her master’s degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and her Ph.D. in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon. In her free time, Deborah enjoys metalsmithing, weaving and painting silk. She looks forward to working at Elon because it has an impressive environmental studies program with great faculty and students.  

Breanne Boyd, Coordinator of Data Management
Before coming to Elon, Breanne Boyd worked at CardioDx and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. Originally from Hamilton, Va., she received her associate’s degree in business studies from Alamance Community College and her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. When she isn’t working, Breanne enjoys spending time with her husband, Joel, and her 3-year-old daughter, Catey. She also enjoys reading novels and going on day trips with her family. She is excited to work at Elon because she has heard it is a wonderful place to work and because it is a chance to work in a new environment.

Jenny Ciesiulka, Assistant Director of Student Activities
Jenny Ciesiulka is originally from Naperville, Ill. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Central University and her master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Marquette University, where she previously worked. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys reading, yoga and travelling. She is excited to work for Elon because the school provides a great environment to grow personally and professionally. 

James Fogleman, Electric Mechanic
James Fogleman hails from Gibsonville, N.C. Before coming to Elon, he worked for H.P. Wright and Electric Company. In his free time, James enjoys car shows, fishing, football and auto racing, as well as spending time with his wife Robin and son Cole. Before being employed by Elon, he worked on campus with three different Electrical Contractors and particularly enjoyed working with Elon employees.

Diane Horton, Program and Outreach Coordinator, Love School of Business
Diance Horton received her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master’s degree in conflict studies and dispute resolution from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A Raleigh, N.C. native, she was previously employed at UNC at Chapel Hill. When she isn’t working, Diane enjoys spending time with her husband Greg as well as her three cats, two dogs and three horses.

Ryan Johnson, Assistant Professor of Philosophy
Ryan Johnson is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He received degrees from Duquesne University and Kent State University, and previously worked for the Rochester Institute of Technology. In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, Erin, as well as playing soccer and listening to music. 

W. Thomas Jones, University Organist
Tom Jones is a native of Mebane, N.C. He received his bachelor’s degree in music from Stetson University and his master’s degree in music and religion from Yale University. He currently works as the City Editor at the Burlington Times-News. In his spare time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as watching movies, cooking and spending time with his pets, which include a dog, ferret, hedgehog and turtle. He looks forward to work at Elon because of his family connections to the school and the chance to provide high quality music at university functions.

Jeremy Lloyd, Electrician
Jeremy Lloyd is originally from Graham, N.C. Before Elon, he worked for AC Corporation. When he is not working, Jeremy enjoys play music and video games, as well as spending time with his wife, Caroline, and dog Penny. He is excited to work at Elon because it is closer to home and offers better benefits than his previous job.

Shannon Lundeen, Director of Academic Initiatives for the Residential Campus
Shannon Lundeen is a Lake Forest, Ill. native. She received her bachelor’s degree in philosophy and women’s studies from Colgate University, her master’s degree in philosophy from Stony Brook University, and her Ph.D. in philosophy from Stony Brook University. Before coming to Elon, she was an assistant professor of bioethics and adjunct associate professor of philosophy at Case Western Reserve University. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys singing, cooking, photography and spending time with her husband Macavan and her children Paxton and Harlan. She is excited to work at Elon because of the job, people and reputation of the University.

Monte Markley, Environmental Services
Monte Markley is originally from Burlington, N.C. He previously worked for the Alamance County School System. In his free time, Monte enjoys spending time with his son, James, as well as playing pool, listening to music and watching movies. He looks forward to working at Elon because it is a good school with opportunities to advance his career.

Isaac Menyongai, Custodian
Isaac Menyongai hails from Greensboro, N.C. Before Elon, he worked at Key Resources and Distinctive Personnel. When he isn’t working, Isaac enjoys spending time with his dog and swimming.

James Moore, Lead Groundskeeper
James Moore is originally from Gibsonville, N.C. He received his associate’s degree in horticulture from Alamance Community College. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, and his dog, Lilly.

Kara Pierce, Gardener
Kara Pierce is originally from Elon, N.C. She received her associate’s degree in horticulture technologies.

Brittany Smith, Custodian
Brittany Smith is originally from Burlington, N.C. Before coming to Elon, she worked for Aramark. She enjoys spending her free time with her five-year-old daughter, Janiya Adams. She looks forward to learning more about Elon.

Latisha Taylor, Career Advising Fellow
Latisha Taylor is originally from Richmond, Va. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and human services from Old Dominion University, and her master’s degree in higher education from George Mason University. In her free time, Latisha enjoys shopping, watching Netflix, reading and hanging out with friends and family.

Muriel Vernon, Assistant Professor of Anthropology
Muriel Vernon hails from Hamburg, Germany. Before coming to Elon University, she worked at UCLA, where she also received her Ph.D. In her free time, Muriel enjoys travelling, wine tasting and spending time with dogs. She looks forward to working at Elon for the teaching centered work and the opportunity to be creative and innovative.

Hannah Vignali, Gardener
Hannah Vignali is an Elon, N.C. native. She received her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and was previously employed by Elon University. In her free time, Hannah enjoys exercising, horseback riding and art. She looks forward to working at Elon because of the school’s location, which is close to her family.

Jarad Webster, Landscaping
Jarad Webster is originally from Greensboro, N.C. Before coming to Elon, he worked for High Point University. Jarad is excited to work for Elon because of the community and benefits.

Hanna Wentz, Head Dance Team Coach
An Elon, N.C. native, Hanna Wentz received her bachelor’s degree in accounting at Elon as well as her master’s degree in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Macie, as well as dancing, working out and shopping.

Linda Winn, Custodian
Linda Winn is originally from Reidsville, N.C. Before coming to Elon, she worked at Twin Lakes Senior Living Community. In her free time, Linda enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband, three children and four dogs. She looks forward to working at Elon for the attractive campus and benefits.

• Lauren Duffy, associate director of corporate and employer relations in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, and husband Patrick welcomed son Patrick Shepherd on Oct. 19.
• Carrie Eaves, associate professor of political science, and husband Ryan welcomed daughter Shelby Rose on Aug. 31.
• Jennifer Guthrie, administrator of Colleague for admissions and financial planning, welcomed daughter Caroline on Sept. 16.
• Sarah Snyder, program assistant for admissions and financial aid, welcomed twin daughters Presley and Porter on Oct. 1.
• Kristin Walker, recruiting and event coordinator for the Student Professional Development Center, and husband Ben welcomed daughter Ava Anne on Oct. 4.
