Elon Law alumnus Collin Cooper has been named one of the Triad Business Journal’s "40 Leaders Under Forty" in recognition of his professional achievements and national leadership advancing diversity in the profession of law.
“A recipient of Elon Law’s Young Alumni Award, Cooper has been promoted twice in two years at PPD [Pharmaceutical Products Development Inc.] to now oversee global contracting processes,” the Triad Business Journal said. “He serves as director of diversity for the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and developed continuing education programming on implicit bias in the legal profession against LGBT and other minorities. This year, he will convene presidents of all the national diversity bars across the country, from LGBT to Native American bars, to create collaborative strategies for eliminating bias.”
Cooper is implementing a diversity pipeline through the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, a project called “What Do Lawyers Do?” that is educating minority students about the practice of law and encouraging them to apply to law school.
“I am passionate about diversity and inclusion in the legal profession,” Cooper said.
Asked what he valued about his position with PPD, Cooper focused on the opportunity to engage people around the world.
“I love working in a global position, interacting with colleagues from all different cultures and backgrounds, while still utilizing my legal acumen and training,” Cooper said
