Associate Professor of Music, Hallie Hogan presented a poster titled “Historical Storytelling Through the Musical Interpretation of Personal Letters” on Feb. 26 at the College Music Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference held at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
She presented research on art song compositions that utilize personal letters, in their literal form or as inspired verse, to convey story and illuminate history while musically depicting the personality and perspective of the letter-writer.
Currently on sabbatical, she is researching the courtship letters of her grandparents which date from 1906 to 1911 in preparation for a new musical collaboration.
