‘A Thousand Thanks’ campaign surpasses goal

More than 1,600 handwritten thank-you notes were collected this year during “A Thousand Thanks,” an annual event that encourages Elon students, faculty and staff to express their appreciation to university donors.

Through a partnership with Fraternity and Sorority Life, a special presentation on “A Thousand Thanks” helped kick off Greek Week on April 3. That event garnered more than 600 thank-you notes, with members of Kappa Delta and Sigma Kappa submitting the majority.

The official event launched on Tuesday, April 5, at College Coffee, with writing stations available at Daniel Commons, Global Commons and the Moseley Center throughout the day. Elon Student Alumni Ambassadors and students from the Student Calling Program helped staff the writing stations and added their own notes to those they collected.

Students were at no loss for words in pointing out exactly how donor support influences their lives. A sophomore wrote, “I am in the Music Production Department. Your donations helped build the new music studio I use every day. Thank you.” 

A first-year student wrote, “Working in Elon Athletics has shown me what I want to do with my life. Funding for student staff is limited, so your donation and others like it are so important. Thank you so much.”

This year the thank-you notes will be mailed to members of The 1889 Society, which recognizes Elon alumni who give back to the university every year.
