Shannon Tennant, coordinator of library collections, presented at the Tennessee Library Association's state conference about new developments in cataloging practices.
The Tennessee Library Association held its annual meeting in Kingsport, Tennessee on April 7-8, 2016. Tennant presented a session on Friday titled “RDA for the Rest of Us.” Resource Description and Access, or RDA, is the new set of rules that librarians use to create the records that patrons see in the catalog. National libraries, like the Library of Congress, and large academic libraries have sizeable staffs and budgets to implement these changes. Tennant showed librarians in smaller academic and public libraries how they could incorporate the new standards with fewer resources.
