The Office of Sustainability is partnering with multiple campus groups to host Earth Week celebrations on campus this week.
Earth Week kicks off at Elon on Tuesday and includes five days of events dedicated to spreading awareness regarding sustainability. Students will have opportunities to support local farmers, learn about sustainability issues and promote environmentally friendly practices across campus.
Earth Week activities take place from April 19-23, 2016. The schedule for the week is below.
Tuesday, April 19
- Sustainable College Coffee, 9:40 – 10:20 a.m.
Bring a reusable cup to College Coffee and visit the Office of Sustainability Table to receive a prize.
- Interest Meeting for Elon Outdoors Canoe Trip & River Cleanup, Koury Commons 4:15 p.m.

- Keynote Speaker: Eileen Claussen, McKinnon Hall 7:30 p.m.
Eileen Claussen, Executive-in-Residence for the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, will speak about the implications of climate change, how to address it and the difference we can make.
Wednesday, April 20
- Sustainable S’mores with Elon Outdoors, Beck Pool Patio 10 p.m.
Enjoy s’mores to celebrate Earth Week.
- Local Meal, Colonnades Dining Hall 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Visit Colonnades to enjoy a lunch prepared with local ingredients.
Thursday, April 21
- Farmers Market, Elon Community Church Lawn 3 – 6:30 p.m.
Fill a reusable bag with produce and items made by local vendors.
- Midnight Meals, 11 p.m.

Friday, April 22 – Earth Day
- Party for the Planet, Speakers Corner 3 – 6 p.m.
Celebrate Earth Day with entertainment, food and information from campus sustainability organizations.
- ITB Meditation, Numen Lumen Pavilion 4:15 p.m.
Iron Tree Blooming will host a meditation session.
Saturday, April 23
- Elon Outdoors Canoe Trip & River Cleanup
Travel to Dan River to canoe with Elon Outdoors. Register online and give payment to Campus Recreation between Tuesday at 4:15 and Wednesday at 12:30.
