Faculty and staff donors gathered on May 2 to celebrate the success of the Faculty/Staff Campaign, which has already yielded $382,880 in new cash gifts from more than 992 donors this fiscal year.
Elon’s faculty and staff gathered on May 2 in McKinnon Hall to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2015-16 Faculty/Staff Campaign.
More than 80 Elon employees served as campaign captains to help encourage colleagues from departments across campus to support the university this year. Thanks to the outreach of all campaign captains and co-chairs, David Vandermast and Karen Walter, the campaign reached an all-time record of 75 percent giving participation.
President Leo M. Lambert kicked off the program with some heartfelt words of thanks to everyone for continuing to demonstrate the strength and spirit of the Elon community through their generous donations.
Campaign captains Jonathan Miller, Jan Register and Rhonda Belton also addressed the crowd to demonstrate the impact that gifts have on students, faculty and staff.
“Thanks to your generous support of the Chaplain’s Discretionary Fund this year, the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life has been able to assist more than 10 students with the purchase of textbooks, groceries and payment of medical expenses,” Register said. “In addition, we were able to support a record number of staff members who were facing serious financial crises.”
To conclude the program, Vandermast and Walter presented a check in the amount of $382,880 to Lambert. More than 992 employees contributed to the success of the campaign this year, with funds supporting scholarships and experiential learning for students, the Chaplain’s Discretionary Fund and academic programs.
All gifts made through May 31 will be counted toward this year’s campaign totals. Faculty and staff who have not yet participated can contribute by visiting www.elon.edu/makeagift or by selecting the payroll deduction option in OnTrack.
