Eugenia Leggett P’15, former associate dean of development of the Elon University School of Law, died from a sudden illness on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church at 617 N. Elm St. in Greensboro.
Leggett is survived by her husband Barry Frank and her daughter Lydia, a 2015 Elon alumna. Leggett and Frank have been stalwart supporters of Elon Law, establishing the dean’s discretionary fund in 2014 to honor former Elon Law Dean George Johnson, creating the Carole W. Bruce Endowed Scholarship in 2010, and more.
Leggett was a founding member of the Elon Law administration, serving as associate dean of development from 2006 until 2014. She oversaw fundraising efforts and cultivated relationships with donors to build a comprehensive development program for the law school.
Leggett managed all fundraising activities including endowment, programmatic and annual operating support. She identified unique giving opportunities for individual donors and cultivates support for academic programs and scholarships.
She also provided opportunities for donors to be active participants in the life of the law school through special programs and events.
“Eugenia played an important role in the early days of Elon Law, contributing in many ways to the vibrant, innovative school it has become,” said Luke Bierman, dean of Elon Law. “The friendships she forged on behalf of Elon Law, the cultural programs she helped establish in our school, and the gifts she and Barry made in support of our students and faculty are a true testament to her love of this university.
“Our prayers today are with Eugenia’s entire family as they grieve for a wonderful person whose friendships transcend this sad moment.”
