Four club sports teams will honor the 15-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at their games this weekend.
The Club Sports community has joined together to honor the 15-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Women’s club soccer, club baseball, men’s club rugby and club hockey will be taking time before their game start times to hold a brief memorial. All teams will be sporting something patriotic, playing the national anthem and holding a moment of silence in memory of those lost, in honor of those who bravely responded, and in support of the unity and patriotism displayed after the attacks. This weekend’s schedule will be as follows:
CLUB BASEBALL: Saturday, Sept. 10 vs. NC A & T. 11:45 a.m. ceremony, followed by the first pitch at noon. Second game at 3:00 pm. Location: Francis Center Fields (behind Crest).
MEN’S CLUB RUGBY: Saturday, Sept. 10 vs. Furman. 1:45 p.m. ceremony, followed by kickoff at 2:00 p.m. Location: South Campus Fields.
CLUB HOCKEY: Saturday, Sept. 10 vs. High Point. 3:35 p.m. ceremony, followed by 4:45 p.m. start time. Location: Triangle Sportsplex, Hillsborough, N.C.
WOMEN’S CLUB SOCCER: Sunday, Sept. 11 vs. UNC Chapel Hill. 12:40 p.m. ceremony, followed by 1:00 p.m. kickoff. Location: South Campus Intramural Fields.
