Since graduating in 1946, Dr. J. Earl Danieley spent 70 years serving Elon University and touching the lives of thousands.
Across more than seven decades, Dr. James Earl Danieley ’46 served Elon University in many roles — student, professor, president, fundraiser, cheerleader and iconic leader — before passing away on Nov. 29, 2016, at the age of 92.
Danieley became president of his alma mater in 1957 at the age of 32, making him at that time one of the youngest college presidents in the country. His leadership at Elon went far beyond his 16-year tenure as president, as he spent his life to supporting and advancing Elon.
