We regret to inform you of the death of Pamela Moffitt, program assistant in the Department of English, who also previously served as a program assistant in what was the Multicultural Center and is now the Center for Race, Ethnicity & Diversity Education.
Moffitt, who rejoined Elon’s staff this summer, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016. Moffitt first arrived at Elon in 2007 as a member of the Multicultural Center’s staff, and had previously served as an administrative assistant in the office of the president at Bennett College in Greensboro.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, she received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida following her military service. Prior to rejoining Elon this summer, she served as an executive assistant at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and worked in an administrative support role at Prime Personnel Resources in Burlington.
Professor Jean Schwind, chair of the Department of English, said in an email to majors in the department that Moffitt “kept our house in great order” and in “good spirits.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at Holy Trinity Church, 309 Trinity Street, Siler City, N.C. The funeral service will follow the visitation and begin at 1 p.m.
