The latest episode of an online podcast focused on the future features Associate Professor Enrique Armijo, Elon Law’s associate dean of Academic Affairs, who served as one of three guests to discuss “fake news” and what happens when people can no longer distinguish fiction from reality.
The Dec. 6, 2016, podcast of “Flash Forward” also included reflections by Amy Webb, founder of the Future Today Institute, and Brooke Borel, a science journalist and the author of “The Chicago Guide to Fact Checking.”

Armijo is an affiliate fellow of the Yale Law School Information Society Project, and he teaches and researches in the areas of the First Amendment, constitutional law, torts, administrative law, media and internet law, and international freedom of expression. Armijo’s current scholarship addresses the interaction between new technologies and freedom of speech.
In the podcast, he describes his trip to Rwanda, where they tried to crack down on dangerous journalism after the media aided in a genocide.
