The grant will fund a project focusing on the challenges of women of color in science and math educational settings.
India Johnson, assistant professor of psychology, and her external collaborator, Eva Pietri of Indiana University, were awarded a grant from the Spencer Foundation in the amount of $49,789.00 for their project, “A social psychological perspective to understanding and addressing the unique challenges of women of color in science and math educational settings.”
Johnson and Pietri’s project will ultimately result in the development of a role model intervention video to encourage women of color to seek out STEM classes and majors.
