LSB Sophomore Success attracted more than 20 business students aiming to gain insight into the professional world.
On March 1, 25 sophomore Martha and Spencer Love School of Business students gathered in the Moseley Center to participate in the career development event LSB Sophomore Success, an engaged learning program focused on jump-starting sophomore business students in their professional endeavors.
Hosted by the Porter Family Professional Development Center, the event focused on core areas for improvement including networking, resumes and interviews. Students were evaluated in each category and provided with constructive feedback. They attended a diversity in the workplace session as well.
Students met and interacted with multiple professional representatives and alumni from companies including Amica, Bernard Robinson and Company LLP, CHG Healthcare, EY, FactSet, KPMG, MetLife, PwC, RSM, SAGA Innovations and SAS. The sophomores ultimately had the opportunity to strengthen their professional skills through the practice, feedback and learning structure of the event.
“I had a great time at the LSB Sophomore Success Event,” said Andy Marangola ’19. “Throughout my sophomore year at Elon, I have gained several connections through networking with Elon alumni. The LSB Sophomore Success program opened my eyes to the various aspects of the business world that students do not always acknowledge – from the action words on one’s resume to their body language during an interview.”
“All sophomore students should attend this event because it is an opportunity for students to grow professionally and gain knowledge that will benefit them when seeking future employment,” said Sabrina Ramos ’19.
