He joined Morgan Stanley in February 2010 as chief operating officer of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and in March 2011 was appointed head of Merchant Banking & Real Estate Investing (MB & REI). In this role, Moriarty was responsible for the Firm’s Private Equity, Credit, Infrastructure, and Real Estate direct investing businesses.
In April 2015, he was also given the responsibility for running the Firm’s Fund of Funds business (AIP), as well as Managed Futures. He was a member of Morgan Stanley’s Management Committee, Firmwide Risk Committee, Asset/Liability Management Committee and Global Franchise Committee.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Moriarty served as a Senior Risk Executive at Bank of America with responsibility for Financial Institutions globally and developing a comprehensive country risk framework for the firm. Previously, he spent more than 20 years at Merrill Lynch & Co., in a variety of executive and management positions across investment banking, global capital markets, and risk management.
