Teaching Fellows spring speaker offers insights about gender, gender-inclusive schools

Joel Baum, senior director of professional development for the organization Gender Spectrum, spent two days on campus as the Teaching Fellows spring speaker.

The Elon Teaching Fellows Program and the School of Education welcomed Joel Baum, senior director for professional development for the organization Gender Spectrum, to campus on March 28 and 29.

Baum gave a public address on March 28 titled “It’s About All of Us: Expanding Understandings of Gender.” This session explored the nature and diversity of gender.

On March 29 Baum facilitated two engaged workshops specifically tailored to teacher education majors. These sessions helped teacher education majors think about how to create gender-inclusive classrooms and contribute to building gender-inclusive schools.
