The chapter received the Exemplary Collegiate Chapter Performance award during the AMA International Collegiate Conference.
Elon University’s chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) received the Exemplary Collegiate Chapter Performance award during the AMA International Collegiate Conference held March 16-18 in New Orleans.
The award is presented to chapters that displayed superior performance in the past year. Chapters were evaluated based on documentation of activities in annual reports and chapter plans.
Emily Freirich ‘18, Jenna Rohde ‘17, Rachel Cantlay ‘17, Chelsea Weber ‘17 and Alyssa Muller ’19 represented Elon’s AMA chapter at the conference, which brought together more than 1,700 student marketers from around the world. The three-day event included workshops and presentations from industry experts, and networking with students and professors.
This is the second year Elon AMA participated in the conference.
Elon AMA was also recognized as the 2017 Outstanding New Student Organization by Elon’s Student Government Association. During the past year, the chapter grew in membership by 100 percent, increased its number of events and workshops by 200 percent, and pioneered Elon’s first Marketing Assistance Program in which the chapter provides marketing assistance free of charge to any campus organization.
Since the chapter’s founding two years ago, Elon AMA has hosted dozens of workshops, guest speaker presentations and professional development events to engage students in marketing activities outside the classroom. The chapter brings together students of all majors and years with an interest in marketing in order to help students build their marketing skillset in preparation for post-academic careers.
“Elon AMA looks to be a leader on campus by furthering the professional development of students through leadership training, community service and involvement in the field of marketing,” said Cantlay, chapter president and co-founder.
Elon AMA is advised by Alisha Horky, assistant professor of marketing, and Nicole Filippo, communications manager for the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.
