Faculty, students and alumni gathered at the Society for Research in Child Development conference to present their research in Austin, Texas.
At the Society for Research in Child Development Biennial Meeting in Austin, Texas on April 6-8, current Elon students, faculty, and alumni gathered to discuss their research.
The group included Lauren Westerberg ’18, Kaitlin Sands ’15, Professor Jackie Nelson Taylor from the University of Texas at Dallas, Professor Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler and Caroline Dean ’18.
The three presentations made by Vandermaas-Peeler and collaborators were:
- “Parental beliefs about children’s outdoor and nature experiences in Danish and U.S. contexts” (with Caroline Dean and DIS co-authors Maja Biehl and Anna Mellman)
- “Mathematical learning in early childhood: Parent guidance during virtual and physical games” (with Kaitlin Sands)
- “Influences of inquiry-based guidance training on parental support of children’s mathematical and scientific reasoning at home” (with Lauren Westerberg, Kaitlin Sands and Melissa Mischka).
