Members of the graduating class of Elon Business Fellows were presented with medallions in a ceremony in front of faculty, staff, family and friends.
The Martha and Spencer Love School of Business recognized the Business Fellows Class of 2017 in a medallion ceremony held May 19 in the LaRose Digital Theatre.
After a welcome by Tina Das, Lincoln Financial Professor of Economics and Business Fellows program director, Andrew Brailey ‘17 and Kathryn McGettigan ’17 gave an overview of the fellows’ four years in the program. Highlights included cohort classes, the study abroad experience to Cuba, and traveling to Wall Street and Silicon Valley to visit companies, such as Google, JP Morgan and Factset Research Systems.
Seniors John Cove, Allison Ducote, Isabela Garcia and Christopher Hunter presented summaries of the fellows’ senior capstone projects. The class was split into two groups – portfolio management and business consulting.
The business consulting group, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Tim Norvell, worked with three companies to form strategies to expand business operations. With Precision Fabric Group, the fellows worked to expand the company’s consumer marketing efforts for its innovative new bedding. To help Redwoods Group expand its market to international locations, the fellows identified target countries and markets to pursue. For All That Jas, the fellows developed ways for the company to increase sales and distinguish its competitive advantage.
The portfolio management group managed a $250,000 portion of the university’s endowment under the mentorship of Associate Professor Raj Gupta. Garcia and Hunter reported the fellows’ portfolio outperformed the S&P 500 Index.
Associate Dean Bill Burpitt presented medallions to the fellows, and Dean Raghu Tadepalli shared his advice for the class.
Hailey Harn ’17 and Caralea Prentice ‘17 concluded the ceremony by thanking their cohort, Love School of Business faculty, and fellows’ families for their support.

About the Business Fellows program
The Elon Business Fellows program blends classroom learning and real-world experience to prepare emerging business professionals to take on the leadership challenges in their professions, their organizations and their communities. The program adds an extra dimension to fellows’ studies through dedicated team projects, specialized cohort classes, a Winter Term study abroad experience, company site visits in New York or San Francisco, a four-year professional development plan, and senior seminars involving managing a $250,000 portfolio or consulting for a company.
