The J.W. Pate Award from the Cape Fear River Assembly was awarded to Janet MacFall, professor of environmental studies and biology, in recognition of her work promoting environmental awarness.
This organization represents many interests within the Cape Fear River Basin, the largest river basin in North Carolina. Members include local and state governments, environmental organizations, councils of government, industries and individuals. Its mission is to provide information and representation to a diverse group of stakeholders within the river basin, with the goal of stewardship of the water resources for the communities depending on them.
The award was presented at the annual meeting of the Cape Fear River Assembly membership in Fayetteville, N.C. It recognized MacFall, a professor of environmental studies and biology, “for her outstanding contribution toward creating environmental awareness among the citizens of North Carolina.”
