Assistant Professor of Biology Jen Hamel gave an invited seminar to faculty members and graduate students at Dartmouth College, as part of the Dartmouth Biology Department’s Cramer Seminar Series on Friday, May 26.
Hamel’s talk addressed how biological community interactions, such as parasitism, predation, and hybridization between closely related species, can affect behaviors such as mating and social communication in insects. The presentation included research done by Hamel with small summer cohorts of Elon students, and featured work by Emma Eskeland ’17(Biology), Tyler Lehmann ’16 (Environmental Studies), and Dawson Nance ’17 (Biology).
The seminar was titled, “A Community Approach to Insect Behavior.”
