Damon Duncan ’06 L’09, who graduated from Elon University with a degree in communications before attending law school, becomes the first Elon Law alumnus to serve in such a leadership capacity for the North Carolina Bar Association.
As member of the board, Damon Duncan ’06 L’09 – the first Elon Law alum elected to this role – will provide leadership and governance to a voluntary statewide organization with more than 20,000 members while also serving on the NCBA Foundation Board of Directors.
“I am humbled and honored to be nominated by my peers in the legal community to be part of the leadership of such a fine organization,” Duncan said of the June 24 election during the NCBA’s annual meeting. “This is an exciting opportunity to serve the legal profession as a representative of the many great attorneys throughout North Carolina.”
A bankruptcy attorney from Greensboro, Duncan is a member of the Elon Law Alumni Council and has taught courses on law firm management at his alma mater.
He also has served as secretary of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section, marketing chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Section, public relations chair of the Greensboro Bar Association, and chair of the NCBA’s Law Practice Management and Technology section.
Duncan is a double graduate of Elon, having earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the university in 2006. His Elon Law classmates elected him president of the Student Bar Association during his third year, where he helped to create the school’s inaugural “Family & Friends Day.”
As an undergraduate, Duncan was the first Elon student selected for the Periclean Scholars program and he served as a university tour guide.
