Lecturer in Education Erin Hone ’04 and Elizabeth McFarland ’19 recently traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, to promote the School of Education at the National Educators Rising conference.
They spoke about programs in Elon’s Department of Education and Wellness with hundreds of high school students who plan to pursue education.
While there, gave a presentation titled, “Have No Fear! Feeling Empowered to Successfully Teach Math in the 21st Century.” She addressed future educators about the shifts in math teaching practices in 21st century classrooms and the impact teachers’ anxiety and negative perceptions about math have on students.
McFarland ’19, a member of Educators Rising and also an Elon Teaching Fellow, gave a speech in the Higher Ed Creative Lecture competition.
