As Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2016, David Cameron led a government that transformed the UK economy. Under his leadership, the deficit was reduced by more than two-thirds, 1 million new businesses were opened, a record number of jobs were created and Britain became the fastest-growing major advanced economy in the world.
He also introduced a National Living Wage, won passage of gay rights legislation, championed environmental issues and fought to protect the publicly funded National Health Care Service. He resigned in July 2016 after unsuccessfully campaigning to keep the UK in the European Union. Cameron now serves as chairman of patrons at the National Citizen’s Service and as president of Alzheimer’s Research UK.
