The Liberal Arts Forum hosts a campus visit, student interactions and a 7:30 p.m. presentation in Whitley Auditorium by the cultural and political analyst and author. Admission is free and a ticket is not required.
As communities become more multicultural and strive to be more inclusive, Rich Benjamin noticed that some areas are actually becoming less diverse.
A senior fellow at Demos, a nonpartisan national think tank based in New York City, Benjamin traveled to some of the fastest-growing white locales in the nation between 2007 and 2009 to reveal the social and political implications of this phenomenon.
Benjamin continues to follow space and place, Western cultural anxiety and our demographic and democratic future. His recent articles appear regularly in The New York Times, The Guardian, The New Yorker, NPR, PBS, MSNBC and CNN.
Benjamin will come to Elon on Tuesday, Sept. 27, for a campus visit, to interact with students and to deliver remarks at 7:30 p.m. in Whitley Auditorium. Admission is free to the evening program and a ticket is not required.
