The department was highlighted in a recent article titled "How to Tell If a Musical Theater Program is Dancer-Friendly."
Elon’s music theatre program within the Department of Performing Arts was recently featured in an article in Dance Magazine titled “How to Tell If a Musical Theater Program is Dancer-Friendly.”
The July 26 article by reporter Lauren Wingenroth featured photos of music theatre productions at Elon as well as insights by a student and Lynne Formato, associate professor of performing arts at Elon. Formato advised that serious dancers who are interested in music theater can make a career by following either a dance or a musical theater pathway.
Reagan Ogle ’18 offered the advice to ask what a musical theater program focuses on. “A lot of schools I auditioned for would come out and idenitfy themselves as a dance program or not a dance program,” Ogle, a music theatre major, told the magazine.
