University to test E-Alert notification system on Tuesday, Oct. 17

The three-minute test will begin at 10 a.m. Read this note for information about how to sign up for E-Alert.

Campus Safety and Police will conduct a test of the outdoor alarm system and the emergency alert systems on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. with the test concluding at 10:03 a.m. 

The test will last approximately three minutes and an “all-clear” will be given at the conclusion of the test. 

If you have not yet signed up for E-Alerts this would be perfect time. You can sign up for E-Alerts at http://www.elon.edu/e-web/bft/safety/e-alert.xhtml.

During Tuesday’s test the Elon community will be notified in the following ways, as it would during a real emergency: 

  • Outdoor sirens
  • E-Alert: text and email message
  • Digital signage 
  • Telephone speakers/display in campus offices and classrooms
  • Computer desktop alert in computer labs
  • E-Net banner 

If you have previously signed up for E-Alert, please note that you must re-enroll with E-Alert every two years.
