The annual festival by the Elon University Garden Studio Class is now in its ninth year and will be held at the Elon Community Garden.
Students in Elon University’s fall semester “Garden Studio” course are hosting the 9th Annual Fall Pumpkin Festival this Friday.
Course participants organize the festival each year to bring the surrounding community together to celebrate the autumn harvest season and foster an appreciation of gardening that last October drew more than 400 people.
Held at the Elon Community Garden at 410 E. College Ave. next to the Sklut Hillel Center, the festival will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will feature live music from local artists and Elon students, fall-themed baked goods, games, crafts and more.
The festival features live music, activities for young ones such as face painting, corn hole, bobbing for apples and of course pumpkin carving. Come enjoy free food, including the festival’s signature vegan Brunswick stew, as well as other pumpkin- and fall-themed baked goods washed down with hot chocolate and hot apple cider.
The Garden Studio class strives for as close to a zero-waste event as possible, and students encourage guests to bring their own mug/bowl/utensils. While utensils will be available, numbers are limited.
Elon friends and supporters of the event this year: the Student Goverment Association, Elon Hillel, Office of Sustainability and Eco Reps, the Environmental Studies Department, the Sierra Club, Center for Environmental Studies, The Elon Academy, the Community Garden Club, Kappa Alpha Omicron and others.
