Nicole Resetar ‘18 and Connor Dwyer ’19 presented their analysis and recommendations for a cyber security-related business case during the annual contest.
The Elon team of Nicole Resetar ’18 and Connor Dwyer ’19 placed second in the North Region division in the 2017 Collegiate Ethics Case Competition hosted by the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
The competition’s business case focused on the cyberattack of an engineering firm modeled off of SpaceX. Teams were challenged to evaluate the firm’s response options, choose the best response and provide recommendations for how the firm should proceed. The evaluation, decision and recommendations addressed stakeholder, financial, legal and ethical considerations.
"The competition was a great opportunity to network and develop myself as a professional,” said Dwyer, a management major from Andover, Massachusetts. “I will take the advice I was given as well as the skills I have gained and apply them to not only my classes, but my career beyond Elon."
Christy Benson, associate professor of business law, mentored the Elon team.
“Competing at Eller was both challenging and rewarding,” said Resetar, a finance major from Garwood, New Jersey. “The teams that won well deserved the recognition, and I’m glad Connor and I were able to gain valuable insight as to how to better compete in ethics-based competitions going forward. Overall, Eller enhanced both my professional network and real-world presentation skills. Eller was a privilege to attend.”
The top three teams were the University of Calgary, U.S. Naval Academy and Stetson University.
