Elon students, faculty and staff are invited to help plant trees along the Greensboro Greenway on Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Dec. 2, the City of Greensboro and Greensboro Beautiful will plant 146 trees through a partnership with Urban Offsets. This project is connected to the Price Park tree planting project Elon University supported in February 2017, for which Duke University provided matching funds. Both institutions will utilize the carbon offsets generated by the projects to help meet their carbon neutrality goals.
Volunteers for the Dec. 2 planting are encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes and to dress to get dirty. Shovels, gloves and water will be provided (or bring your own water bottle to be sustainable). Elon volunteers may meet in Greensboro or take advantage of free van transportation from Elon University. This opportunity can count as service hours for students through the Kernodle Center.
Participants are asked to register online by Nov. 29.
