The Nov. 25 article by reporter Bill Cresenzo about holiday sales looked at what retailers and shoppers are thinking this season, with Sheridan noting that he's seeing strong optimism about the economy.
"Consumer confidence is solid, and it looks like overall, shoppers are confident heading into the season," Sheridan said.
Sheridan pointed out that sales were up in most retail sectors in October, and about 25 percent of the jobs in North Carolina are retail-related so "it's a big engine for job growth."
