Ann Bullock, dean of Elon's School of Education, was a featured guest on a recent episode of Education Matters, a program that airs statewide on UNC-TV as well as in the Triangle on WRAL and in the Charlotte area on FOX 50.
A recent edition of Education Matters, a weekly television program created by the Public School Forum of North Carolina, featured the insights of Ann Bullock, dean of Elon’s School of Education.
The Dec. 2 episode centered on the recent revival of the N.C. Teaching Fellows program that was approved by the N.C. General Assembly and will provide scholarships to students attending North Carolina’s top teacher preparation programs.
Elon was one of five colleges and universities around the state that was selected as a partner institution for the program, which previously operated for more than two decades. The new version of the forgivable-loan program targets STEM and special education teachers, and includes incentives for teachers who head to low-performing schools.
Bullock was invited to the program by host Keith Poston, president and executive director of the Public School Forum of North Carolina, and was joined by Mary Ann Danowitz, dean of the N.C. State College of Education.
“This program allows scholarship monies to bring students to both private and public institutions, and to see what’s the best fit for them if they want to be a teacher,” Bullock said during the program. “Elon never disbanded its teaching fellows program, and instead made it a national teaching fellows program.
