Elon Music Theatre alums are not only successful on Broadway, but in national commercials and the big screen for networks like The CW and NBC.
It’s exciting to see Elon alumni represented in a variety of mediums within the arts. You can find many Music Theatre alumni performing on Broadway and in National Tours, as well as on camera in television and film.
Allison Spratt Pearce '00 has made a name for herself on the Broadway stage in the original productions of "Curtains" (Winnie), "Cry Baby" (Allison & Lenora u/s), and "Good Vibrations" (Rhonda), as well as Off-Broadway, a National Tour, and countless regional theatre productions around the country.
Not only does Pearce’s career continue to be successful onstage, but on camera as well. In addition to guest starring as Inga in the pilot episode of NBC’s "NY-70," Pearce has made cameo appearances in the feature-length films "The Smurfs" and "He Got Game." She has also starred in commercials for leading brands such as Kohl’s and Lee Jeans.
Despite her silver screen successes, Pearce hasn’t given up on her stage career, and still has several theatre jobs lined up for the future. This coming year, she will star as Anita Bryant in the world premiere of the musical "The Loneliest Girl in the World" at San Diego’s Diversionary Theatre. Additionally, she will be playing the role of Katherine Parr in the West Coast premiere of "The Last Wife" at Cygnet Theatre.
Although Lindsay Northen '03 currently performs in the Broadway company of "Wicked" (understudying Glinda, and appearing nightly in the ensemble), she has simultaneously garnered a list of television and commercial credits. Most notably, she played the role of Dr. Jenner on Season 1 of "Mr. Robot," as well as guest starring on "CSI Miami" as Alicia Haverford. Some highlights of her commercial work include spots for Breyers, DirecTV, Chase, Pillsbury, Fedex, Time Warner, and Canon. Northen just finished shooting an episode of "The Last O.G." opposite Tracy Morgan, which will air on TBS this month.
Sara Spadacene '14 has been featured in many independent films and commercials since graduating. This past year, she produced a play called "The Maiden’s Prayer" alongside Elon Acting alum Sean Laing ‘'12. Currently, she is in the process of producing and acting in both her own web series and a short film called "Gains." Most recently, she landed a role in the upcoming film, "Kiss Me Drunkenly," as well as being lined up to costar on the CBS TV series, "S.W.A.T." Additionally, Spadacene has been featured in several national commercials– most notably in Disney’s "Cars 3" and Match.com.
Additionally, recent alum Sumi Yu '15 is filming for NBC’s brand new series called “Rise.” Yu will play the recurring role of a violin player in a high school band. Based on the true story and young adult novel, "Drama High," the show is produced by the same creators of "Friday Night Lights" and the smash Broadway hit "Hamilton." Be sure to tune in when it airs this coming spring.
Other Music Theatre alumni that have been featured on the screen include Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash in CW’s "The Flash;" nominated for Teen Choice TV Actor, Kids Choice Award Male TV Star, MTV Best Hero Award, Teen Choice TV Action Star, and Teen Choice TV Villain), Lauren Adams '04 (Gretchen Chalker in The Netflix Series "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt") and Chris Wood '10 (Mon-El in The CW’s "Supergirl").
