Due to the heavy snow throughout the region, Elon University's main campus and law school will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 18. Read this note for details of campus operations.
Elon University main campus and law school CLOSED today, January 18, 2018
Lingering snow and ice from yesterday’s storm have created dangerous travel conditions throughout the area. Although we had planned to open main campus at noon today, out of an abundance of caution the university will be closed again today.
According to the National Weather Service, even with full sunshine, temperatures are not expected to reach 32 until this afternoon. Snow and ice that melt today will likely refreeze again tonight as temperatures fall again overnight.
Classes on campus are canceled and all university offices are closed today, except as noted below. We are planning for the university to re-open at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow; additional information about schedules for tomorrow will be distributed this evening.
As we reminded the community last evening, many class activities will continue online or through out-of-class activities/assignments. Students should check with their instructors for further information.
Physical Plant crews have been working overnight to clear sidewalks, parking lots, and roadways around campus and that work will continue throughout the day. Students are reminded that there will continue to be slippery spots on campus, so proper footwear and winter clothing are advised when walking around campus. Black ice may be a concern this evening, so driving is discouraged.

- The final discussion in the Toxic Faith series, 7:00 p.m., McBride Gathering Space
