The Nonprofit Leadership Community of Professional Practice becomes the third advising track within Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences.
Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, has launched a new pre-professional advising track for students interested in pursuing opportunities guiding nonprofit organizations.
The new Nonprofit Leadership track becomes the third advising track within Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, which now offers Health Professions and Pre-Law tracks. Each of these tracks assists students as they prepare for different career options.
Erika Lopina, assistant professor of psychology, will work closely with an advisory board of faculty and staff from the Students Professional Development Center to guide students from a wide range of majors who enter the track. These students will receive assistance in connecting relevant coursework and experiential opportunities as they prepare for future employment.
The new track comes as nonprofit organizations grow as a sector of the economy and many Elon students who major in the arts and sciences successfully pursue careers with nonprofits after graduation.
"We aim to help students translate the knowledge and skills they gain from their Elon experiences into the key competencies that are valued by today's nonprofit organizations," Lopina said.
All interested students are encouraged to attend Nonprofit Leadership General Information Sessions, which are held in the fall and spring semesters. After attending a General Information Session, you may sign-up for additional, individualized advising by contacting the Nonprofit Leadership advising coordinator.
