All Elon students, faculty and staff are invited to gather in Alumni Gym at 9:40 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, to pay tribute to the Lamberts for their 19 years of service to the university.
After more than 19 years at Elon, Leo M. Lambert is concluding his service as the university’s eighth president and is transitioning to a new role as president emeritus and professor.
To express appreciation to President Lambert and his wife, Laurie, all Elon students, faculty and staff are invited to gather in Alumni Gym at 9:40 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, for a special College Coffee.
President and Mrs. Lambert arrived at Elon in January 1999 and their legacy of leadership has been historic, creating one of the great success stories in American higher education. The Lamberts have lived every day with passion for the university and built strong, personal relationships with thousands of students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends of Elon. This College Coffee will be an opportunity for the campus community to honor the Lamberts and celebrate their achievements.
The Lamberts will be joined at College Coffee by their family members. The event will include tributes by students, faculty and staff and special announcements by Trustee Kebbler Williams ‘98 on behalf of the board of trustees.
Following a yearlong sabbatical dedicated to writing, President Lambert will continue service to Elon as president emeritus and professor, and will be available to President Connie Ledoux Book to primarily support the university’s advancement and alumni engagement offices. President Book begins service as Elon’s ninth president on March 1.
