Polk was tapped to fill the role on an interim basis in 2017.
Elon University has named Betsy Polk its director of Jewish Life, a leadership role she has been performing on an interim basis since 2017. Polk leads a team with a vision for a re-energizing and welcoming Jewish Life on the campus anchored by the Sklut Hillel Center.
"We have appreciated Betsy’s leadership as interim director," said University Chaplain Jan Fuller. "She hit the ground running when she arrived in August and has been a driving force for many positive developments over the course of the year, inspiring the tremendous energy and momentum that has been building within Jewish Life all year. In addition, she is a wonderful member of the Truitt Center team."
Polk is a co-founder of The Mulberry Partners, a Chapel Hill, N.C., consulting firm focused on leadership development, and has brought decades of experience in team-building and organizational management to Hillel. She worked with N.C. Hillel in the past, and has deep ties to Jewish communities throughout North Carolina. She is the co-author of the award-winning book, "Power through Partnership: How Women Lead Better Together."
She earned her bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and her master's degree in organization development from the American University in Washington, DC. She also holds MBTI certificatiion TEAMSTEPPS master trainer, and is a Leaders Collaborative Cohort member.
