A segment of North Williamson Avenue through downtown Elon will close later this month to allow for continued work on the renovation and expansion of McEwen Dining Hall.
The closure of North Williamson from Lebanon Avenue to Haggard Avenue is necessary for crews to run new water and sewer lines to the dining hall, which will reopen in fall 2018. The road will close on the morning of March 17 and will reopen on March 24.
Traffic will be detoured west around the closure. The detour route includes West Haggard Avenue, Church Street and West Trollinger Avenue.
The closure is timed with Elon University's Spring Break, which runs from March 17 through March 26.
