Talent manager and publicist Brad Lemack will release his third book, “The New Business of Acting: The Next Edition," in September.
Brad Lemack, an instructor in the Elon in Los Angeles program, has written about the business of acting since the turn of the century. Nearly two decades later, the talent manager and publicist recently announced that his third book, “The New Business of Acting: The Next Edition,” is set to hit shelves and e-readers in September.
The book, published by Ingenuity Press USA, expands on the topics and themes discussed in Lemack’s first two publications, focusing on the challenges actors face in launching, seeking and maintaining rewarding careers in the new business of acting.
“The Next Edition” includes 20 new and revised chapters that address the impact of the #MeToo movement, self-tape auditions, online career branding, the SAG-AFTRA union’s $125 a day dilemma for actors, the new tax plan’s impact on actors, and the overall impact of changes across the industry.
“I write about the #MeToo movement and its impact on new-to-the-business actors, as well as what it all means to former or current ‘working’ actors seeking to rebrand their careers,” wrote Lemack in an online promotion. “The book also explores the struggles of an industry to rebrand its own tainted image.”
“The Next Edition” is available on amazon.com for pre-order.
Lemark has taught in the Elon in LA program since 2010, supervising internships as well as teaching its Entertainment Public Relations course. The award-winning publicist and talent manager opened Los Angeles-based Lemack & Company Talent Management/Public Relations in 1982. Prior to that, he was a publicity executive at pioneering TV producer Norman Lear’s production company. He was also a producer and broadcaster in Boston.
His first book, “The Business of Acting: The Skills You Need to Build the Career You Want,” was initially published in 2002. His second book, “The New Business of Acting: How to Build a Career in a Changing Landscape,” was printed in 2010.
