Members of the Class of 2018, their families and friends can turn to Elon University’s Commencement 2018 website for the latest information about this year’s graduation and the events leading up to this big day for the senior class.
The website — www.elon.edu/commencement — has been updated throughout the academic year and includes a Pocket Guide detailing Commencement events, a schedule of activities during Commencement week, details about what to do in the case of inclement weather and a campus map.
If you can’t attend the graduate and undergraduate Commencement ceremonies, you can watch online at www.elon.edu/live. The undergraduate Commencement will also be broadcast via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/ElonUniversity.
Along with copies of letters that have been sent to the undergraduate Class of 2018 and their families, visitors to the frequently updated website will find news stories related to Elon University’s 128th undergraduate Commencement, which is scheduled to take place on Scott Plaza at 9:15 a.m.
The site includes information about downloading Elon’s Guidebook App, which provides access to an Elon Guide that will offer messages and updates throughout Commencement weekend.

Wednesday, May 16
Senior Class Picnic with Faculty and Staff, Under the Oaks, Noon
The Office of Alumni Engagement is hosting a farewell picnic for all graduating members of the senior class and Elon faculty and staff. (Rain location: Lakeside Hall)
Senior Gala, McKinnon Hall, Moseley Center, 8 to 11 p.m.
A senior celebration finale before the weekend festivities begin. Admission for graduating seniors is free. Guest tickets are $10. Semi-formal attire requested.
Thursday, May 17
Donning of the Kente Ceremony & Reception, McKinnon Hall, Moseley Center, 6 to 9 p.m.
Invitations will be mailed to graduates and alumni by the Office of Alumni Engagement. Parking is available in the McMichael parking lot. If you have questions, call (336) 278-7448.

Friday, May 18
ROTC Commissioning Ceremony, Holt Chapel, South Campus, 11 a.m.
Reception to follow at Harden Clubhouse for commissioned officers, family and guests.
Receptions for Graduates and their families, hosted by faculty of Elon College and the schools of Business, Communications and Education, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Celebration of Leaders of the Twenty-First Century, Great Hall, Global Neighborhood, 5 p.m. Graduating Business Fellows, Communications Fellows, Elon College Fellows, Honors Fellows, Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows, Lumen Scholars, Teaching Fellows and Periclean Scholars will be recognized at a ceremony that highlights their talents and accomplishments. A reception will follow.
Legacy Reception for Graduates and their Alumni Parents, Grandparents and Siblings, Lakeside Hall, 2nd Floor, 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 19
Candidate Check-in and Assembly, Alumni Gym, Koury Center, 8 a.m.
Candidates will check in under the Colonnades facing Williamson Avenue and will be seated in Alumni Gym for final messages before the Commencement ceremony. Please be prompt and arrive at 7:45 a.m., properly attired in the maroon bachelor’s robe and cap. At 8:30 a.m., important announcements will be made before final preparations for the academic processional to Scott Plaza.
If it rains and the ceremony is inside, graduates should check in at Campus Recreation in Koury Athletic Center and line up in Jordan Gym. For the morning ceremony, graduates should check in at 7:45 a.m. For the afternoon ceremony, graduates should check in at 11:45 a.m.
128th Commencement Exercises, Scott Plaza and Young Commons, Processional begins at 9:15 a.m.
Rain location for Commencement is Alumni Gymnasium in Koury Center. Details of the rain plan are available here. Tickets are required for the rain plan.
Reception for Graduates, Inman Admissions Welcome Center lawn, Graduates and their families can meet at a reception hosted by academic departments and the Office of Alumni Engagement. Lemonade will be served. If the rain plan is in effect, the reception will be canceled.
